We charge a one time registration fee of £25 per songwriter to cover song registration, catalogue monitoring, and administration costs. We then take a commission of 20% on any royalties we collect on your behalf. You keep 80% of everything we collect for you.
-
No. Our pricing is completely transparent. You pay the one-time registration fee upfront, and we only earn when you earn. There are no monthly subscriptions, renewal fees, or surprise charges.
-
The £25 registration fee is payable when you sign up. After that, we simply deduct our 20% commission from the royalties we collect before paying you the remaining 80%.

The short answer: Your PRO (PRS for Music in the UK) collects performance royalties in your home territory, meaning you're leaving international and mechanical royalties uncollected.
The long answer: PROs like PRS for Music are responsible for collecting performance royalties in the UK. If your music is played in the US, Europe, Asia, or anywhere else, you need representation in those territories. Additionally, PROs don't collect mechanical royalties from streaming services, downloads, or physical sales.
Rekodi Music registers your songs in over 200 territories worldwide and collects both performance and mechanical royalties globally. We handle the complex international registrations so you don't have to.
-
Yes, absolutely. In fact, you should be. PRS for Music is your Performing Rights Organisation, and you need to remain a member. Rekodi Music works alongside your PRO membership to collect royalties that PRS doesn't handle, specifically international performance royalties and worldwide mechanical royalties.
Think of it this way: PRS collects UK performance royalties, whilst Rekodi collects everything else globally.
-
Yes, because we collect a different type of royalty. Distributors deal with master recording rights and get your music onto streaming platforms. Rekodi Music deals with publishing rights and composition royalties.
Your distributor pays you for streams and downloads of your recordings. Rekodi pays you for the use of your songs (the composition) including public performances, radio play, TV sync, and mechanical royalties that distributors don't collect.
You need both to maximise your income.
-
Once you sign up and register your songs, it takes an average of 12 months to be fully registered globally and receive your first royalty payment. This timeline varies because different collection societies around the world have different processing schedules.
Some territories pay out faster than others, so you may see royalties from certain countries before others.
-
Most of the societies we collect from can provide royalties from the past 1-2 years. Whilst we can sometimes collect retroactive royalties, we can't guarantee it, as it depends on individual collection societies and whether you've had previous publishing deals.
The best way to maximise retroactive collections is to register as many songs as possible with complete metadata - including co-writers, splits, and ISRC codes.
-
Rekodi Music distributes royalties half yearly (two times per year), provided you've met our £100 minimum threshold and have valid information on file. Payments are typically made in the last week of the payout month via bank transfer.
-
We collect from over 200 territories worldwide. This includes major markets like the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Yes, you can cancel your Rekodi Music membership after the first 3 months. However, please note that we have a 12-month post-term collection period. Yes. Rekodi Music offers YouTube monetisation as part of our publishing administration services. When you opt in, we deliver all your songs (with ISRC information) to YouTube's Content ID system automatically.
This ensures that videos using your music are identified and monetised on your behalf.
-
To register your songs effectively, please provide:
•Song title
•Songwriter names and IPI (CAE) numbers (if available)
•Ownership splits (percentages)
•ISRC codes (if your song has been released)
•ISWC codes (if available)
•Release information (artist name, release date, label)
The more complete information you provide, the faster and more accurately we can register your songs and collect your royalties.
-
Yes, but it's important to understand which royalties we collect. Streaming services pay two types of royalties:
1.Master recording royalties - Paid to the recording owner (usually your distributor pays you these)
2.Mechanical royalties - Paid to the songwriter/publisher for the composition
Rekodi collects the mechanical royalties from streaming services. Your distributor collects the master recording royalties. You need both to receive your full payment from streaming.

Mediation
-
Mediation costs vary depending on the complexity of the dispute and the time required. We offer transparent pricing and will provide a quote following your initial consultation. In most cases, mediation costs significantly less than litigation. Ranging from £800 and up.
-
Many disputes can be resolved in a single mediation session lasting 3-6 hours. More complex matters may require multiple sessions. The process is typically completed within weeks, compared to months or years for court proceedings.
-
Mediation requires all parties to participate voluntarily. However, many publishing and recording contracts include mediation clauses that require parties to attempt mediation before pursuing litigation. We can help facilitate initial discussions to encourage participation.
-
The mediation process itself is voluntary and non-binding. However, if an agreement is reached, it can be documented in a legally binding settlement agreement that all parties sign.
-
Yes. Parties are welcome to bring legal representation to mediation sessions. Many find it helpful to have their solicitor present to review any proposed settlement terms.
-
If mediation doesn't result in a settlement, you retain all your legal rights and can pursue other dispute resolution options, including litigation. However, the vast majority of mediations result in successful settlements.
Copyright Registration
-
Copyright registration is the act of officially documenting your ownership with copyright offices and collection societies. Publishing administration involves ongoing royalty collection and management. Our registration service focuses on the former—protecting your rights without taking any ownership stake.
-
In most countries, copyright exists automatically when you create a work. However, registration provides crucial legal benefits, including the ability to sue for statutory damages in infringement cases and creating an official public record of your ownership.
-
UK and international society registrations typically take 2-4 weeks. US Copyright Office registrations can take 3-6 months due to their processing times. We'll keep you updated throughout the process.
-
Yes. It's never too late to properly register your compositions, though it's always best to register before or immediately after release.
-
We'll need: song titles, songwriter names and IPI numbers (if available), ownership splits, and any release information (ISRCs, release dates, artist names). The more complete information you provide, the more effective your registration will be.
-
Registration is the essential first step to collecting royalties. However, to actually collect international royalties, you'll also need publishing administration services. We offer both, ask us about our full royalty collection service.
